after being asked why i don’t focus on the more positive human efforts to clean up the world we live in, and instead focus merely on the destruction we have inflicted,

the reason not to focus on the positive efforts of society that aim to bring about a more environmentally healthful, peaceful, and equal world is because of the pervasiveness of destructive crimes against the natural world and all of those creatures (including ourselves) within it. i do not think it is time yet for us to pat ourselves on the back. so what that we recycle, compost, and drive a hybrid cars? so what we are starting to create more means of renewable energy? so what there are conservation areas, and protected natural parks, and save the wild life funds? and so what there are organic farms, and local produce options amongst all of the produce from columbia or wherever else on the other side of the world? none of this is enough. because it is merely a response to actions that have destroyed (almost irreversibly) the earth in the first place. not to mention these noble attempts are not even embraced by everyone. do you not get it? what we are doing to “try” and combat or reduce or undo all that we have already done is too small. it is a joke really. we are destroying the earth while laughing on our cellphones in our SUVs while going through the drive-thru and flicking cigarettes out of our air conditioned windows. if you think in anyway what you are doing is enough, is your share, is the best you can do, then you are basically as deluded as people who actually do everything just mentioned. i think we all ought to be doing better to consume less, waste less, preserve more, care more. and until this can be recognized collectively we are in the deep, deep red.
